MP backs biodiesel tax break campaign

Liberal Democrat MP Andrew George is backing a project to keep for business who produce biodiesel.

Producers converting cooking oil into biodiesel currently gain from a 20p differential however that is because of end next April.

The St Ives MP, who leads the Lib Dem Environment Team, has been meeting the UK sustainable biodiesel alliance.

Mr George stated "a number of little businesses in Cornwall presently generate income from used cooking oil".

He added: "In order to be able to get this type of industry going it does need simply a bit of lift which can be found in the kind of tax inevitable."

Biodiesel is a blend of traditional diesel, rapeseed and veggie oils.
